The most important thing about your profile you should note is that it needs to be active as well. It needs to be evolutionary. It can never be dormant. I mean, if your profile was dormant how do you expect to receive Instagram likes? (unless you decided to buy them, which is a different story). You will be amazed, or should I say, startled to learn just how quickly active Instagram users will lose interest. A majority of subscribers, well, a growing majority anyhow, want to be associated with work that is happening. It’s hip and its trending. And yes, let’s be honest, a lot of these followers are superficially trying to get in on the act where the leading influencers have purportedly done all the spadework already.
But then again, how do you suppose Instagram’s top-ranked influencers keep themselves busy? To get more Instagram followers to dig what they say or do, they’re watching others. Not just watching, doing. Doing in the sense that they are doing what they already do very well indeed back on their own platforms. They are passing objective comments. They are passing suggestive comments too, but without offending or alienating anyone. Yes, they keep that in mind, otherwise it’s going to negatively impact on their fan club.
Their hash-tagged comment is already directly linked to their own work. Not just their Instagram platform, their main website and alternate social media platforms too. To keep your profile or biographical link active and visible, use it judiciously to drive traffic from there to your latest round of posts. Use it to direct traffic to your most popular work. This is where active and regular admin work becomes necessary. You need to keep track of how your posts are doing, see how it’s doing in the algorithmic ranking stakes.
It’s all relevant work if the ultimate objective is to get more Instagram followers fully on board with you. Don’t for a moment underestimate the power of the pen. The pen is indeed mightier than the sword. How could we ever forget momentous events like the Arab Spring. Just one seemingly docile man went and torched himself out of protest against corruption and the abuse of political power. And what good did that ever do? Years later, no matter how often viral (and violent) content keeps on trending, has it made much of a difference.
Things seem to have gotten worse. No, I am no pessimist. I’m just being realistic. In actual fact, I am quite the optimist. You have no idea. No, the pen is mightier than the sword. I do believe that a relevant and sensible caption of no more than four, well-thought outlines makes all the difference. It can help bring some understanding to some or another dramatic event that you have captured on your phone and transferred to your Instagram profile. This might also be a good time to remind you to choose your words carefully.
To my mind, your leading influencers, in the truest sense of the word, are akin to being wise sages with smatterings of goodwill to share.
